If you remember this time last year, the Fisher Parrish Gallery in Brooklyn opened its doors with a debut exhibition, The Paperweight Show. Taking what is quite an ordinary object and turning it upside down in terms of its form and function, it was a show that aimed to push the very boundaries of design.

Now the gallery is back with something to mark its one year anniversary: The Ashtray Show, an exhibition of original works by over 80 contemporary artists and designers. Some interpretations are rather humble, others are wonderfully absurd and witty. "It celebrates another seemingly obsolete object from the mid-century-modern desk," says the gallery. "Now perhaps made relevant again by the legalisation of marijuana. Smoking is back en-vogue and we can all finally start accessorising again!

"

With works by Tom Sachs, Keegan McHargue, Emmett Moore, Ian McDonald, Bill Adams, Katie Stout and many more, The Ashtray Show runs until 9 September at the Fisher Parrish Gallery in Brooklyn, New York City.
